CHEAP ADJUSTABLE DESK LAMP

While I was surfing through instructables my little brother was playing with these puzzled shaped brick.I wanted to make a lamp from a long time and at that time this idea stuck to my mind.

MATERIALS

• A piece of wood
• Philips LED bulb and bulb holder
• A strip of hard sponge
• Screw and nut
• Puzzle shaped playing bricks
• Glue
• Pin for wall outlet

Tools

• Glue Gun
• Drill
• Xacto knife.

Cut the wood according to the size of the playing puzzle brick.Mine wood size is 13x20.Once the wood is cut sand it and curve the edges.Curving the edges will give it a good look.

If you don't have a wood varnish at your home and it's not available nearby than you can make varnish at your home.

How to:

1. Get a bowl
2. Add some instant coffee in it.
3. Boil the water.
4. Add the boiled water to the bowled filled with coffee.
5. Mix it with a brush or a spoon properly.Once your varnish is made,using a painting knife start rubbing it on the wood.
6. Rub the extra with the cotton.
7. When it is done dry it using a hair dryer
8. Do this 10-15 times to get a darker look.The more you do this step the more darker it will get.

If you have a wood varnish in your house then you can use them for best result.

How to:

1. Wear a hand protection.
2. Open it and using a brush cover the wood completely.
3. Let it dry for 60 seconds.

In the 5th image you can see the difference between the coffee varnish and the chemical varnish.Right side is the one withe coffee varnish and the left is the one with chemical varnish.Chemical varnish is much darker than the coffee one,but if you do more and more layers of coffee varnish than you can get the color like it.

Cut four square pieces of hard sponge and glue them along the four corners.

I used 6 puzzled shaped bricks in total.For making the gluing process clear I will use the color of the bricks withe respect to the image.So I joined yellow with orange and neon with green.If you have the same colors or similar like them than us this pattern for a better look.

Now join the 2 pairs of glued bricks together and drill a hole through it.Once drilled add the screw and nut.When done add the remaining 2 pieces also.After the screw is added may easily move the neck from the place with screw.

I took a red and a black wire and using them joined the bulb holder and the 2 pin.I was not having a 2 pin so I converted a 3 pin into 2 pin.Once you are done cut a circle in the center of the top brick and using a glue gun fix the bulb holder in the cut out.

Get a scrap paper of color of your choice and add an aluminium using a glue stick.Once the aluminium is properly pasted on the scrap paper make a cylindrical shape.(NOTE: the aluminium side should be inside).When done using a glue gun paste it around the bulb holder.

Add the bulb to the bulb holder and the 2 pin to the outlet on the wall to light it up.
