Califone Headphone Repair

scaled.FinishedVideo.JPG
Throughout the US classroom teachers use Califone headphones.  These headphones usually break after a year of use.  School closets are full of broken Califone headphones.

I noticed that about half the broken headphones had a rattle when I shook them.  If your Califone headphones are rattling, this fix might get them to work again.

Unscrew Two Screws

If your headphones are not working and they are rattling when you shake them, there is a good chance that a driver has come loose.  To check to see if this is the case, unscrew the two screw found under the spongy headphone cup.

Open the Headphone Up

Once the face plate is removed, look around inside the headphone.  If you see a driver rolling around in you headphone, then you will probably be able to fix your headphone.

Put Driver Back Into Driver Seat

Put the driver back into its seat.  Use a hot glue gun to hold it in place.

Put Everything Back Together

Put headphone back together.  Return put screws back in.  Check to see if headphone works.

This trick will work with about half of all broken Califone headphones.

This trick only works for broken headphones that have a loose driver.  I'm not sure how to fix snapped wires.  If you have any ideas on how to track down disconnected wires in headphones please let me know.
