Calligraphy-(Create 3D Art From 2D Image Using TinkerCAD)

Digital Calligraphy can sometimes be a difficult task as most people are more comfortable with ink pen when writing, many of the student are able to create designs from the scratch with pen and paper. thus it is necessary to learn how to use 2d images as a leverage for making 3d designs by adding depth...you could go ahead and 3d print or CNC your design to get them into the real world and have them as designs on shelves, wall, etc...

Supplies

TinkerCAD

Internet connection

2D design

3D printer or a CNC machine (if you need to have the real design)

The first step is to get a 2D design...you can either create one yourself or source one from the internet...for the purpose of this course,i have sourced my design from pinterest and i own no intellectual rights on the design thus this design should not be used for commercial purposes (if you need a design for commercial purpose please pay an artist they have families too) that being said,

After getting your image, it is important to understand what format your image is , this can be known by checking the properties of the image usually .jpg but sometimes .pdf,

Tinkercad supports only some of the file types available, luckily it supports SVG. Thus convert your image to an SVG file.

To do this, search "png to svg file" on your browser and use one of the available websites to perform the operation of changing the file type..for this task i will be using the website "image to sTL".

Import your file into tinkercad and set it dimensions according to your preference .....if you want to print it or use a CNC machine get your Gcode and print.
