Camouflage Solar Cooker

The Camouflage Solar Cooker will cook your food when you are hunting, hiking, fishing or "Bugging Out". It is 16oz. and can be broken down to fit flat in a backpack, it will reflect lantern light at night.

Materials:
2 posterboard pieces 22"x 28"
Camouflage fabric 1 yard
Thermoweb iron on adhesive 1 yard
Mylar or foil 1 yard x 1 yard
glue
2 pipe cleaners each cut in half

Optional:
Tape

Tools:
Scissors or craft knife
Punch
Glue spreader





Cutting Poster Board.

Clip 2 pieces 22" × 28" poster board together. Cut 2 squares 14" × 14" through both sheets leaving both 8" × 28" strips. Fold the 8" × 28 " strips into 2 separate 8 " squares. Glue squares flat to make an inner base piece and an outer base piece.

Application of Fabric to Poster Board.

Cut camouflage material into 4 squares 14 " × 14 " and 1 square 8 " × 8. Cut HeatnBond fusable webbing the same sizes. Following package directions fuse camouflage material to poster board of same size.

Punch Holes in Panels and Glue Mylar or Foil to Panels.

Measure 4" from the corner of the 14"x14 " panels and 3\8" from edge to punch only 2 holes in one corner. Measure 1" from the corner of 8" × 8" squares and 3/8" from edge and punch 2 holes in all 4 corners. Then use scraper to smooth glue on paper side of each panel and apply foil or Mylar.

Assemble Camouflage Solar Cooker.

Assemble Camouflage Solar Cooker by laying out the 4 large 14 " × 14 " with punched corners touching, fabric side up. Put the fabric sided 8 " × 8 " square on top fabric side up. Make U shape from 4 " pipe cleaners and thread through corner of 8 " square and the holes in the world of 2 large squares, do all 4 corners. Pull through and twist to turn over. With foil or Mylar side up to fit the shiny 8 " square on top by untwisting the pipe cleaners and threading them through the shiny square.

Adjust the Panels for Maximum Sunlight on Center Square.

Arrange panels like flower or 90º back - level front or "solar cave" with back put forward of 90º for low sun.

Cooking Tips.

By adjusting the panels in the flower position or the 90 degree position or the solar cave position (have back panel more than 90 degrees) you can cook from sun up to sun down. Always use a meat thermometer when cooking meat, poultry, fish etc.
