I made this for my son, who loves superheroes. I took an aluminum pot lid, sawed and filed off the handle from the top, placed it on the underneath side (after bending the handle to a better contour), glued the handle onto the underneath side (Krazy Glue), using the remains of the original bolts to secure the position of the handle, cut out stencils from slight-adhesive stencil sheet paper to mask off each element of the design to airbrush each element separately (rings and center star), airbrushed the rings and star, sealed the whole shield with modgepodge. Modgepodge seals the paint to prevent chipping. Only thing I'd do differently is to weld the handle underneath, instead of glue. One of my boys managed to pull it off, so it needs repair.
