Car Caddy

I came up with the idea to make a center console organizer when I was going through my stuff inside my car. I needed something that was all the way at the bottom and couldn't get to it. I wanted to design something that would allow me to access an item at any level in my center console without having to dig all my things out.

Current Market Products

The current designs on the market aren't bad but they don't serve all the purposes I need. They mainly consist of customizable pockets via plastic inserts.

Inspiration

I took inspiration for shower holders with their multiple shelf levels and portable design in terms of the handle.

The Shelf

A good place to start is taking your measurements and making shelves for the base of your caddy.

The Handle

Create a handle that conforms to your center console but also something that fits well in your hand. I went with a circular handle because it feels better when holding as apposed to something with sharp edges.

Rails

I created a rail system to allow for easier use of the caddy when pulling it up and down through the console.

Print Out the Part

The Caddy can be printed as one whole piece. The rails should be printed separately but can be easily mounted with screws.

Conclusion

This organizer is a great tool to keep all your tools and miscellaneous right where you need them. I am happy with how it came out and I think that its a great base which can be improved upon over iterations.
