Caramelized Figs With Goat Cheese
My dear coworker helped me make this yummy recipe! The golden key for success is the caramelization of the figs. This makes a good appetizer and paring for wine. I am not a big fan of fresh figs nor goat cheese, but I enjoy this dish so much. I hope you all enjoy!
Ingredients
A store-bought rotisserie chicken
Figs
Goat cheese
Flatbread
Fresh basil
Balsamic vinegar 1/3 cup
Olive oil 1/3 cup
Agave 3 tablespoons more or less depending on your taste
Preparing Chicken and Figs
Pull chicken into small pieces, slice figs about half an inch, and chop fresh basil.
Mix olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and agave.
Dip the fig slices in the vinegar mixture and lay them on a sheet pan.
Caramelize the Figs
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. (* I used a toaster oven.)
Bake the figs in an oven until you see a good caramelization. You might want to rotate the pan and flip the slices. This is the important part, so please be patient. And please do not forget and burn them!
Preparing Flatbread
Take them out of the box and break into a smaller pieces.
Bake them in an oven to get a nice crispiness.
Final Assembling
Lay the flatbread on a plate. Let's assemble!
Put slices of caramelized figs, pulled chicken, crumbled goat cheese, and top them off with chopped basil.
Enjoy!
