Cardboard Boat

I will be building a cardboard boat that is viking themed. Here is the whole process of me building it. :)

Supplies

Cardboard from Home Depot (large size and I used about 4)

Duck tape (7 rolls)

Tape measure

Box Cutter

Step 1: Measure It Out!

First I measured everything from the side of the boat to how long it was going to be. I used a measuring tape for this which made it a lot easier.

Step 2: Construct the Base

Second, I started to build the base of the boat. I used two layers of cardboard to make it nice and strong.

Step 3: Make It Stable

Since you want a stable base, adding a piece of cardboard in the middle can make it strong. You don't want your boat to be weak when it gets in the water.

Step 4: Duck Tape the Base

I decided to duck tape the base before anything else so it wouldn't be moving while adding the sides.

Step 5: Add the Sides

After duck tapping the base, adding the sides is a good idea. It is also useful to add folded pieces next to the sides so it's more stable.

Step 6: Add the Back

Using the same technique like the sides, using pieces of cardboard to hold the back part is very useful. Doing so will make it more stable.

Step 7: Make Your Arms Reach!

Since I couldn't reach over the sides comfortably, I decided to cut a bit so my arms could reach over.

Step 8: Duck Tape Everthing!!

Once I finished with the shape of the boat, I duck taped everything together. I made sure that there were no opening and that everything was sealed so that water doesn't seep through.

Step 9: Painting

Once everything was duck taped together, I painted everything in a dark brown color using Ultra-Color House paint. It did dry fast because I surrounded my boat with fans so it would dry quicker.

Final Result!

Took a lot of work to do but the final product was this. A lot of patience and time is needed to complete a cardboard boat.
