Cardboard IPhone and Folio Case

Who can resist a cardboard contest? Not me.

I made a cardboard iPhone and folio case using a Teva shoebox and the cardboard from a 6 pack of Lagunitas Hop Stoopid Ale. This was my first time making something from cardboard since kindergarten, and on a scale of 1 to 10, I would give it a 3 in terms of fun.

Cardboard boxes

Black duct tape

Colored pencils

Scissors

Metal ruler

I fashioned the folio case from my own leather folio case, which also holds my driver's license and credit cards, and has a magnetic strap that keeps it shut.

Cut the folio part using scissors. I used a metal ruler and the point of the scissors to perforate the cardboard to get it to fold easily.

I had to glue down the part that holds the strap, using a heavy stapler as a weight while the glue dried.

Cut strips of cardboard and tape them together using duct tape, the approximate size of your iPhone. Then cut out pieces for the top and bottom to create the body of the phone. Duct tape holds this together well.

Find a picture of an iPhone online and print it out, cut it, and color it in with colored pencils until it starts to look kind of real from a distance. Then tape it to the iPhone body.

Once you've completed this silly project, you can leave your cardboard iPhone at a local coffee shop under some newspapers. Or not.
