Growing up in Southern California, having carne asada fries has always been a treat. T__T I miss them so much. This recipe comes really close to the infamous meal back home.

Since I live oversea for my husbands work, I gotta work with what the commissary offers. So 2nd best beef to use are Skirt Stake and Flank Stakes. I don't bother to tenderize the steaks, ill let the acid from the marinate do that for me. However, if the meat is too think, ill slice it to about 1/4inch.

Here are 2 marinate that I always use. 1 is by Ballistic BBQ on Youtube (which i used) and the other is

1/3 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup soy sauce
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 limes, juiced
1/2 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground white pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon paprika

Marinate for 1-8hrs depending on amount of steak

To cook using a broiler:

pre-heat the oven 350F then switch on the broiler

broil one side 10min, flip (pour out excess liquid, if any) and cook for another 10-15min

let it rest on the cutting board

cut into strips

I made my French fries from scratch but I recommend pre-made ones, just to save on work/time. Fry or bake them according to the package instruction.

Season with a lil bit of salt

The Topping (lots and Lots of Toppings)
