Carved Styrofoam Pumpkin With Glow in the Dark Eyes
This is my first instructable and I hope you guys enjoy making this. The Styrofoam is a little hard to cut, but if you are patient it will be worth it. I made mine with a kit you can find at walmart during the Halloween season. I only used the pumpkin from this kit though.
Gathering Your Supplies.
I used a Funny Faces Pumpkin decorating kit, a small knife, yarn for the hair, duct tape((not pictured)),paint, and a bottle of glow in the dark fabric paint.
Carving the Pumpkin
I first carved out the center of the pumpkin. To make it easier I wet the Styrofoam a little, so it did not stick to the knife. Next came the eyes. I tilted mine upwards to give it a more feminine look. I also cut out where the eyelashes would be((do not slice all the way through)). I did the same with the mouth.
The Fun Part
Now comes the fun part: Giving your pumpkin some Color! You can use any colors you like, but for my pumpkin I used neon green and pink, a deep red, and a dark blue. Neon pink lips, bright green and dark red eyeshadow, and what girl doesn't like to have a little something special on her back, so I gave "Cindy" ((as I so named my pumpkin)) I snowflake tattoo on her back in a deep blue.
The Final Step
Finally I cut several pieces of yarn a little smaller than the size of my pumpkin when you place them on top. I taped this to the stem of "Cindy" and traced her eyelashes with the glow in the dark paint. I also heavily applied it to the 3 edges of her eyes wrapping the entire eye. She can be made to fit any season if you like to have an unusual decoration for spring and christmas. Enjoy your new Pumpkin! TheDreamer
