Cat Origami With Microfiber Cloth

I have glasses, and they always end up dirty... That's why I often use a microfiber cloth to clean them. And when I take the cloth out, I have the habit to fold it like origami.

That's how I get this idea: why not mark the cloth with the layout of the origami? And will I am at it, I can also put on some details!

For this instructable you will need the following material:

• Square microfiber cloth (20x20cm)
• Sewing thread of various colors
• Embroidery thread

And these tools:

• Temporary marker for cloth
• A sewing machine
• A pair of cranted scissors
• An embroidery needle (it must be really pointy to not damage the microfiber)

I didn't take step by step photos, but you can get the idea from the result.

First of all, you need to find and test an origami layout!

Once you have found it, mark the lines with a temporary marker, this will help you to sew them.

Then, you can sew. I used a different color for every line to make it easier to read, I also used a different stitch spacing for the mountains and valley folds.

To embroid the eyes, you will need a very sharp needle, or you will damage the fabric.

I started by drawing a circle, and then I linked (with embroidery thread) all the arcs inside it to fill it.

Then I stitched the perimeter of the circle twice, to get a continuous line.

Once again, be very cautious and don't make many different holes around the same spot or the cloth will break.

The best way I found to make whiskers is to divide your embroidery thread into smaller ones (I took 2 bits out of 6 in my thread), then make it go through the fabric with a needle, and knot it at the top and bottom of the fabric.

As is was too difficult to embroid the nose (big area, really close to the edge), I decided to sew a small piece of another microfiber cloth.

I cut it with serrated scissors, and then I sew it.

I took care to hide the knots between the two fabrics.

Finally!

You can test if it folds correctly and if it's still square, as the microfibers tend to extend a little bit.

If it's not square anymore, you can cut an edge with serrated scissors.

Protip: you can iron the fabric during the whole process to mark the folds and make it easier!
