Cell Phone Camera Tripod Holder

Design your own or use my design. No more asking strangers, or having an arm's length selfie candid shot. This design can be adapted for any cell phone, either in the case or not.

Step 1: Equipment

For this design, you will need a 3D Printer, drafting tools, and a little knowledge about Design Engineering.

Step 2: Basic Design in 2D Orthographic Views

For this print, I followed the design method.

1. Brainstorming ideas

2. Thumbnail drawings

3. Rough Draft

4. Final Draft

5. Prototype

6. Finish Product

Step 3: Isometric View

Create Isometric View (3D)

I used Tinkercad.com for this project because of its simplicity. For more complex parts or assemblies, I either use AutoCAD or the more popular SolidWorks. Google Sketchup works well too.

Step 4: Add Dimensions

Of course, you will have to use the ruler and build it to scale so it will print correctly. Simply measure your own phone and dimension it correctly.

Step 5. Export to Printer

I use the Makerbot software that came with my printer. Very user friendly. Remember to lay flat and center your project.

Step 6: Finished Product

Finished Product. Notice the recessed circular indentation and the rectangular spaces. This is to accommodate my miniature tripod.

Step 7: Installation

Get your tripod and install phone holder.

Step 8: Phone on Tripod

Step 9: Put It to Use

Fantastic! No more leaning your phone against books or asking someone to take a pic. Selfies can only be at arm's length. This works great and is more useful than it may seem. The miniature tripod cell phone camera holder is a must for Christmas mornings and holidays. Have fun!
