Framed Chalkboard
It's handy to have a large To Do list somewhere in your place. Even nicer is a big chalkboard you can write on that's easy to read. This project covers how to make a classier chalkboard out of a picture frame, some scrap plywood, and chalkboard spray paint.
What You Need
Materials:
- Picture frame
- plywood
- Krylon Chalkboard spray paint
- Measuring tape
- yardstick
- Pen
- circular saw
- safety goggles
- ear protection
Measuring and Marking
Use your measuring tape to measure out the dimensions you need for your piece of plywood. Then use those measurements to draw out the correct size piece on your plywood. Use a yardstick and a pen to draw the lines nice and clean.
Cut to Fit
With the plywood marked, use the circular saw to cut the plywood down to size. It should now fit inside the frame.
Paint the Ply
Take the plywood out of the frame and apply 2-3 coats of Krylon Chalkboard spray paint to it. Let it dry for at least 5 minutes between coats and let the whole thing dry for at least 24 hours before you first use chalk on it.
Attach Ply to Frame
Put the painted plywood into the frame and attach it. I used a staple gun to attach mine.
Write It Down
So now your new framed chalkboard is ready to go. Write down those important things you really need to get done!
