Charging Station DIY
Hi people out there, in my instructables I will show you how to create a charging station for a total of four devices which can be charged at the same time!!! Anyways its super easy and you need simple and cheap materials only! Have fun :)
The first step you need to do is to get all the materials which are displayed in the image above. You can buy all these materials at a local gardening store.
So now is the step where you need to start working. You need to arm yourself with a ruler and a pencil and you measure the single wooden parts which you will then glue together. You can find the measurements of all the wooden pieces including the holes which you need to drill later, on my edited sketchup design above. You just have to follow the measurements and the design, which are on scale, and draw them on your piece of wood.
Now you have to cut the pieces of wood that you drew. You can cut these wooden pieces for the charging station using a scroll saw like the one above. Be careful when cutting because before you know it you have accidentally injured your finger. For more information on how to use the scroll saw see my video about how to use the tools, above.
This step is the easiest of all because the only thing you need to do is smoothen the wooden pieces using a disk sander like the one in the image above. I have chosen to use a disk sander and not simple sandpaper because it is much faster and gives a smoother result. For more information on how to use the disk sander see my video about how to use the tools, above. While drilling make sure that your cables fit into the holes which are done by me because not all cables have the same diameter. Make sure that drill the holes for the cables and the hole at the back of the charging to make the cables come out. For more information revisit my sketchup design which is above step 1.
Now you can start gluing the parts together using the glue I used, as you can see in the image above. The parts will glue in about 5 min. To give the wooden parts an extra stability you can use a claw, as in the image above. This step is very time consuming and will also need a lot of concentration because the parts need to be glued perfectly to be able to give the charging station a good stability. Also include the screws so you can take the bottom part of the charging station off to exchange and remove cables if needed.
This is the final step in the creation of my charging station. You need to take some paint, spray paint, etc, and paint the charging station to make it look better than just simple wood. I used a special paint, as you can see above, for wood, which in my opinion is the best.
If you have any problems or questions regarding my instructable or the charging station itself, feel free to contact me under my email, ssaddemi@student.dresden-is.de. Hope you enjoyed my instructable, but most importantly have fun using the charging station!!!
