Cheese Stuffed Pull-apart Garlic Bread
This recipe is a home made version of a restaurant made pull-apart garlic bread. I tasted the same at a bakery store in Patna, Bihar, India and tried to make the same in my own way. :) This is a really delicious and easy recipe for the cheese lovers out there and it looks mouthwatering too!
Step 1: Cutting the Loaf
Heat/ Bake the loaf for about 30 seconds. This will make it easier to cut it out. Make sure to not bake it too much.
Insert knife and cut in diagonal lines, giving approx 1 inch between two lines. Make sure not to cut through the bottom.
If required, heat the loaf again and then cut the loaf perpendicular to the direction of the lines already cut through.
At this stage the loaf should have a mesh like pattern on the top.
Step 2: Making the Stuffing
Garlic paste:
Peel and finely chop half of a garlic bulb.
Melt half a cup of butter.
Add chopped garlic to the butter and stir for a minute on medium flame.
Cheese:
Take mini cubes of mozzarella cheese and grate using a hand grater.
If mozzarella is not available, cheddar cheese can be used instead.
Step 3: Stuffing
Using a pastry brush/ oiling brush, season the loaf with the garlic-butter paste.
Repeat the process on the inside of the loaf (between cuts) so every bit is subjected to the seasoning.
Stuff the shredded/ grated cheese in each of the cut lines, so the bread is fully stuffed.
Note: You will need to spread apart pieces to the loaf can be stuffed. This might cause the loaf to rip. Be careful.
Step 4: Baking the Bread
Once the stuffing is complete, line a baking tray with parchment paper. Aluminium foil works too.
Gently place the stuffed loaf on the tray and cover the tray with aluminium foil. This helps in cooking the bread evenly on the inside too.
Preheating the oven is not mandatory, but it will help to cook the bread better if the oven is preheated for 5 minutes at 250 degrees.
Put the baking tray in and let it bake for 5-7 minutes. Check once in 3 minutes, and when the bread has a crisp layer on top, its done!
Step 5: Serving
Serve the whole bread at once, and guests may pull apart from the same to serve themselves.
Enjoy! :)
