Cheesy Sausage Biscuits
In this Tutorial, I will be showing you how to make one of my favorite snacks/appitizers. It won't take a super long time to make, and will turn out delicious! Enjoy!
Ingredients
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit
To make Cheesy Sausage Biscuits, you will need:
Ingredients:
-2 cups flour
-2 teaspoons baking powder
-1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
-1/4 teaspoon salt
-1/2 cup shortening
-3/4 cup milk
-1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
-1 package (6-8) Breakfast Sausages
-1 tablespoon cooking oil
Tools and Equipment:
-Large Bowl
-Measuring Cup
-Wooden Spoon
-Oven
-Cookie Sheet
Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, stir together the 2 cups of flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar and salt.
Shortening
Once you have stirred together the dry ingredients, measure out 1/2 cup shortening and add that to the bowl. Using the wooden spoon cut the shorting into pea size pieces and stir into the flour mixture.
Add the Milk
Once you have stirred in all of the shortening, measure out 3/4 cup milk in the measuring cup and pour it into the bowl. Stir the milk into the flour mixture.
Cheese Time!!!
Measure out the 1/2 cup of cheese and pour it into the mixture. Make sure the cheese is spread out, so it is mixed in with all of the dough, not just one part.
Shaping the Biscuits
Divide the dough into 8 balls. Grease the cookie sheet and place the biscuits about 2 inches apart from each other. Put the cookie sheet in the oven for 10 minutes
Cooking the Sausages
While the biscuits are in the oven, it's time to cook the sausages! Pour 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a small pan, then place the 8 sausages on top. Cook on medium heat for 5 minutes, flipping the sausages occasionally so they cook on both sides.
Assembling the Sausage Biscuits
Poke a medium sized hole in the middle on each biscuit, then put the sausage through the hole leaving about half of the sausage on each side of the biscuit.
