Plastic Chip Bag Gift Bag
I really don't like to throw anything away, I recycle some but for things that can't be recycled I try to come up with something to make from it.
I love these gift bags, they are fast to make and have no waste. Try one out when you need a gift bag in a hurry and can't get to the store in time.
This bag saves energy in at least two ways. It saves you not having to drive to the store for a gift bag and it saves energy because then there is at least one less bag being made that would have been bought. If this catches on an many people reuse their chip bags for gift bags, that is saving a lot of energy.

Cleaning the Bag
turn the bag inside out and wash the bag (make sure you get the corners really clean) then stand it up and let it dry or dry it with a towel
Squaring the Bottom
fold both corners as shown in pictures, then crease the sides and bottom
Tape the Bottom
once you have the bottom squared and the sides creased how you like it then get two pieces of tape and tape the bottom (the tape is clear so it was hard to photograph)
Height of Bag
now determine how tall you want the bag, fold the top into the bag to get the height you want
Punch Holes in the Top of the Bag
punch holes for the handles
Finishing the Bag With Handles and Tissue 'paper'/plastic
to make the handles take a plastic grocery bag and flatten it out
next cut the bottom seam and handles off
then cut off the store name/logo (leave the plastic warning on)
use this 'sheet' of plastic as tissue 'paper'
cut 2 strips of plastic about an inch or an inch and a half wide
string them through the holes
then tie them in a knot or bow on the inside of the bag
done.
