Chocolate Chip Toffee Bars
Ever have that moment when you need to have something amazingly delicious? Well give me (and this instructable) about 27 minutes and you can be feasting on chocolate chip toffee bars. So called because they're thicker than chocolate chip cookies, and with the added umph of toffee bits, they're equal in awesomeness to a perfect cereal pour (the phenomena of having a perfect ratio of milk to cereal.)
Let's get started!
Start Your Engines & Gather the Ingredients
Get your oven set at 375'
1 1/8 cup flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 teaspoon flour
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
3 Skor bars or Heath bars, chopped roughly
Flour Mixture
Sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Set Aside
Prepping Candy Mix
Chop Skors bars or Heath bars into about 1/4 inch pieces. Throw into bowl and add in all chocolate chips and toss with the 2 tbsp of flour.
Add into flour/sugar mixture, and evenly combine.
It's ready to bake!
Sugar Mixture
Blend your butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Add in egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Slowly pour in flour mix, beating all the while
Now add in Candy mix until incorporated.
Pop Into Oven
Lightly grease a 9 inch square baking dish. Add in dough, which is fairly thick, so you'll have to spread it all around the dish with a spatula. Throw into preheated oven, set at 375'
Bake for 20 minutes or until edges turn golden.
Enjoy!
It'll be hard to let these yummies cool completely, but if you gobble them up immediately and don't allow the toffee bits to cool, you'll have toffee stuck in your teeth for a while. Which isn't all that bad?
