Christmas Bow / Flower From Floppy Disks

I've got a lot of floppy disks sitting around. I finally decided they were never going to be used because I don't have a floppy drive. So I began trying to figure out how to use them.

As Christmas is coming super soon, I thought it would be a great idea to make a bow for one of my siblings who loooooves computers.

It takes about fifteen minutes, looks great and can be used on many other things. If you spray paint it, it doesn't have to stay black. It makes a great flower.

Materials

For this Instructable, you will need:

4-5 Floppy disks (I used 5)
1 Paper Fastener (Or you could just glue gun it all together)

One Glue gun
Scissors

Rip the Floppy Disks Apart

Go ahead and rip apart all five disks, only keeping the black shiny plastic inside, with the metal disk in the middle.

Begin Preliminary Folding

We are going to crease it and make the four petals of the bow / flower. Fold the first side up, and then the opposite side, and then the two that are left over, leaving a square in the center.

The Real Folding

It's hard to explain, so I'll just use captions on the pictures.

Start Stacking

Put all the Disks together, and slip the fastener through the middle. Turn the pedals until they look spaced and 'floofly' like a real bow or flower.

Dealing With the The Center Piece

Finished! So now you can spray paint it if you want. I didn't spray mine because I wanted it to look like old floppy disks. I made some brief examples of what the bows / flowers could look like if you spray painted them. I just used Photoshop so it's not exactly what they would look like.
