Christmas Candy Sleds
Every year I try to make treat/candy bags for all the kids and stuff them in their stockings. This year, I thought of trying something new. Not only are they great to look at, they make awesome name/place holders! In this instructable, I'll show you how to put it all together, and add a festive and whimsical touch to your holidays!
Gather Materials
So you will need:
·A glue gun
·Additional glue sticks
·1 package of candy canes (usually 12 in a package
·6 Kit Kat bars (mine came 6 in a package)
· Other candy (I used Hershey's miniatures, Kisses, Hershey's Santa bars, and foil-wrapped Santa chocolates)
Optional:
·Ribbon
·Bow
Yields 6 sleds. If more are needed, simply double supply list and have fun!

Start Gluing
Plug in your glue gun and let it heat up for a minute. You should then see a drop of melted glue forming at the tip.
Start by grabbing a candy cane, and about where the hook of the cane ends, start gluing.
Be careful not to squeeze the trigger to hard or you'll have a mess!
The glue hardens pretty quickly, so immediately stick the Kit Kat bar on to the cane.
Press down for a few second to allow wrappers to properly adhere to each other.
Then repeat to the other side, and voila! The base is done ! Easy right?
Once your done with this step, unplug glue gun. (trust me)

Figure Your Pattern & Glue
So I decided I'm going to add 1 of each type of Hershey's miniatures, then a Hershey Santa bar and finally, 3 Hershey's Kisses. (i promise I'm not promoting Hershey, its just what i had on hand!)
It helps if you lay it out first to see how it looks, then glue.
When you figure out your pattern, plug in your glue gun then simply put a drop of glue under each candy and press down like before with the base.
I found these awesome foil-wrapped Santa Claus chocolates which I will attempt to glue to the front of the sled.

Make Pretty
Now it's time for the bow!
Cut 6 equal sections of ribbon approximately 22" long.
Add your ribbon by wrapping around the width, under, cross, then bring up the length of the sled. (see pics)
Overlap ends slightly then glue ends.
Then glue to crossed section.
Add a pretty bow to the cross sections and a name tag if you wish.
You could even place it by Santa's feet across the canes.. The possibilities are endless:)
Ta-da! You're done!
You change the layout if you like and make it your own. I would love to hear about your ideas and to see your finished product, so please post comments/ideas and pics!
