Christmas Parade Float

Every year we build a small parade float for our staff to take part in the Christmas parade in our town. A couple of years ago we decided to build one that would last for years.

We started with our normal design on a napkin done over a few beers.

We found an old mobile home frame and built a platform. Then a small house on it. Inside the house was a generator, computer and audio system with 6 speaker attached to the outside of the house.

We covered the exterior in Styrofoam sheets from Home Depot and carved it to look like wood and stone, and then painted the exterior.

We covered all of the surfaces in fake snow for which we used white pillow filling. Under the fake snow was a framework of chicken wire with Christmas lights in to give it some shape.

We used 8 illuminated reindeer decorations on a pole attached to a sleigh for Santa to sit in.

Then decorate it all up with Christmas lights and decorations.
