Cliffside Unit Desk
This instructable shows how to build a cliffside unit desk
The material cost me about $100
The reason I built this was because of school. I had a project that needed me to craft something so I built something I could use.
This project took me about 3 hours.
Supplies
- 2 8'x10"x1" Boards
- 1 4'x12"x1" Board
- 7 2" Corner Brackets (4-pack)
- Drill
- Tape Measure
- Skill Saw
- Orbital Sander
Measure Your Material
The first step is to measure your material and to make sure you have the right measurements on the wood to make the cuts.
The measurements you need on the 2 8'x10"x1" boards are 4 29" marks and 6 11" marks on those 2 boards
Cut Your Material
This step is to cut the 4 29" marks and the 6 11" marks and marking sure the cuts are level and smooth.
Sand Your Material
After you have made the cuts, sand the cut edges to make them more smooth and so it doesn't create gaps.
Assemble Your Material
This step is to assemble your material by putting an 11" Board for the base and put a 29" board on both sides of the 11" side board. Then screw in the L corner bracket an inch from the sides on where the 2 boards meet. After you do the base mimic what you did, and repeat it on the top with the brackets. When you assemble the middle board inside the shelf put brackets on the bottom of the board for support. And then repeat and make the other shelf.
Finishing the Desk
Once you've made both shelf leg's for the desk put your 4'x12"x1" board on top of both shelfs and on the backs of the board and shelfs line them up and have an inch of the board overhang on the sides of the legs. Counter-sink the screws on the top board to make the board smooth on top.
Enjoy Your Desk
This project was fun to make and also very rewarding.
