Clip on Pencil Sharpener
First, get the measurements of the trashcan using the ruler that you want to use the pencil sharpener on.
Second, write the measurements down onto a paper and create a sketch of it listing the Length Width and height, and thickness of the top part of the trashcan so you can find the right size for the pencil sharpener to clip onto.
Third, go into tinker cad and create a 3d model of the trashcan using the measurements you got.
Fourth, create the base that clips on the trashcan using the thickness of the trashcan of the top part and see if it fits well onto the 3d model of the trashcan.
Fifth, get measurements of the pencil sharpener your using and write them down and create a sketch of it.
Sixth, create another base ontop of the main base that's big enough to fit your pencil sharpener inside it.
Seventh, make a hole that's big enough to fit the pencil sharpener inside of it and create another hole on the bottom that's slanted so the pencil shavings can slide down easier and fall into the trashcan.
Eighth, align them where they are even and then group them.
