Prepare Sweetened Coconut Bars
Who doesn't love candy, sweets? I'm sure most of us do. I don't know much about candy recipes but I tried to make this sweetened coconut bars last week and it wasn't so bad!
I hope you like it.
Be Careful: Too much sugar might cause tooth decay.
Ingredients
To make these coconut sweets you'll need:
- Shredded coconut - 1.5 cup
- Sugar - 1 cup,
- Cinnamon - 2
- Cardamom - 2
- Cashew nuts - 4-5
Preparing Ingredients
Take a saucepan or a bowl. Add the shredded coconut ans sugar to the bowl. Mix them really well.
Leave the mixture for an hour or so. After an hour the shredded coconut will absorb some sugar.
Meanwhile cut the cashew nuts into small pieces.
Stirring
Take a saucepan preferably heavy. Add the coconut-sugar mixture to it.
Put the saucepan in medium flame. Stir the coconut-sugar mixture using medium heat, making sure that the coconut-sugar mixture does not stick to the saucepan at the bottom.
After 2-3 minutes add cinnamon and cardamom.
Stir for another 2-3 minutes and then add the chopped cashew nuts to the saucepan.
Keep stirring the mixture until it becomes sticky which might take around 10 minutes in medium heat. If the mixture starts to become dry before 10 minutes then take the saucepan off from the cooker, because we need it to be sticky.
You can also add food coloring.
Cutting and Shaping
You have to be very careful and quick in this step because the sugar syrup becomes thick and hard very quickly.
Take a square bowl of at least 1 inch of depth.
Add the coconut-sugar mixture into the tray and press the sweetened coconut against the tray to flatten it.
Take the square bowl and hold it against another flat tray to pour the sweetened coconut on the flat tray. Quickly cut it into square shapes with a knife.
After cutting them into square shapes wait until they're cool. After a while the coconut-sugar sweet will become thick and hard.
Now, carefully take the square pieces out of the tray and serve.
