Collapsible Altoids Tin Barbeque

While searching instructables i found a lot of Altoids survival kits and grills so i decided to make one myself.  Unlike the countless other Altoids barbeques and grills mine has legs and is collapsible.  I have found several 'ibles on how to make an Altoids grill with legs but none could be fit into a pocket and that is the whole point of making an Altoids project.  On the other hand, most altoids grills have no legs and are not safe for use on most surfaces.  In my 'ible i tried to solve both those problems in a quick easy project

Parts
Altoids tin
Four bolts
Four or eight nuts to fit your bolts (eight is more sturdy so that's what i used, four is only for bolts that are threaded all the way to the top and mine are not)
Metal mesh ( i got mine from a metal basket if you don't have one then you can use mesh from a window or a strainer)

Tools
drill or awl
pliers
wire snippers or some thing else to cut metal

The mesh will be used for your grilling surface and should be about half an inch wider than the Altoids tin so it can be bent in.  Be careful while cutting because the edges can be very sharp.

Drill a hole in each corner for the bolts to go in.  I suggest putting some thing a little smaller than the tin inside to keep the tin from being crushed (such as a wood block).

To attach legs with eight nuts put one nut on the bolt one fourth of the way down the bolt.  Then, put it through the hole and attach the other nut and tighten completely. Repeat this with all four bolts. 

If you only have four nuts then put the bolt through the hole with the top of the bolt inside the tin.  Put the nut on the bottom of the bolt and tighten.  Repeat this with the other bolts.  This way is much less sturdy and i do not recommend doing it this way if you can help it.

Bend the mesh so that it fits in the Altoids tin and is high enough to have good airflow.  Also there should be enough space on both sides to add in wood and poke the fire.

To collapse with eight bolts simply unscrew the inside bolt and remove legs.  With four bolts unscrew outside bolts and remove legs.  Keep the legs inside of the tin when it's in your pocket and set up when you want to use it.

This grill worked surprisingly well with wood or charcoal.  To make it have better airflow you can poke or drill holes in the side of the tin.  You can cook hamburger sliders, small fish, sausages, cut up hot dogs, and chicken nuggets.
