Color Wheel
I made a color wheel using a chip board photo reel from Gina's Designs Laser Cuts
Gesso the Chip Board
- Paint all of the chip board with your favorite gesso
- Let dry or use heat gun.
Add Texture
- I added texture paste with a stencil.
- Let this dry completely before going to next step.
Time to Add the Color!
- You can use sprays like I did or use water colors, inks, watered down acrylic paint.
- I sprayed each section with water before adding the color, this will help the colors mix together.
- Careful not to over mix.
Color Wheel Taking Shape
- This is what it looked like after two layers of color.
- I was happy with how it looked so I stopped there.
Time to Add the Stuff!
- I went through my stash of flowers and buttons to pick a rainbow of colors!
Add a Base to the Wheel
- Glue the wheel to a piece of white chip board (sorry I forgot to take a photo)
- You could also use a very heavy water color paper.
- You can cut the wheel out or wait till done and then cut out.
Start Layering the Colors
- Line up the flowers to match the colors on the wheel.
- Once I was happy with how it looked, I started gluing everything in place. I used Beacons 3 in one glue. A glue gun would work as well.
Add More Paint
- After gluing the flowers (and other goodies) in place, I decided that the white squares were too stark.
- Very sloppy add the matching color of that section to the squares, I wanted it to look like a paint palette.
Finish It Off
- I decided to add some chipboard flourishes .
- I painted them gold and added some gold micro beads.
- Once dry, I cut the flourishes into pieces and glued into place.
All Done!
- I love how it turned out! Its going to look awesome in my craft room :) Hope you give this a try, Happy Crafting!
