Color Wheel

SAM_2341.JPG

I made a color wheel using a chip board photo reel from Gina's Designs Laser Cuts

Gesso the Chip Board

SAM_2320.JPG
  1. Paint all of the chip board with your favorite gesso
  2. Let dry or use heat gun.

Add Texture

  1. I added texture paste with a stencil.
  2. Let this dry completely before going to next step.

  1. You can use sprays like I did or use water colors, inks, watered down acrylic paint.
  2. I sprayed each section with water before adding the color, this will help the colors mix together.
  3. Careful not to over mix.

Color Wheel Taking Shape

  1. This is what it looked like after two layers of color.
  2. I was happy with how it looked so I stopped there.

Time to Add the Stuff!

  1. I went through my stash of flowers and buttons to pick a rainbow of colors!

Add a Base to the Wheel

SAM_2327.JPG

  1. Glue the wheel to a piece of white chip board (sorry I forgot to take a photo)
  2. You could also use a very heavy water color paper.
  3. You can cut the wheel out or wait till done and then cut out.

Start Layering the Colors

  1. Line up the flowers to match the colors on the wheel.
  2. Once I was happy with how it looked, I started gluing everything in place. I used Beacons 3 in one glue. A glue gun would work as well.

Add More Paint

  1. After gluing the flowers (and other goodies) in place, I decided that the white squares were too stark.
  2. Very sloppy add the matching color of that section to the squares, I wanted it to look like a paint palette.

Finish It Off

  1. I decided to add some chipboard flourishes .
  2. I painted them gold and added some gold micro beads.
  3. Once dry, I cut the flourishes into pieces and glued into place.

All Done!
