Step 1: Getting the Picture
Like I said, you need a picture of someone smiling.
I got mine on google pictures but this can be any picture.
If you don't have a picture already than look up "pictures of a smiling person," and choose your favorite.
Then click on the picture and then right click on it and click on "save image as."

Step 2: Prepare the Mouth
Now you need to open paint and click on "file," then "open," and find your picture.
Now zoom in on the mouth.
Then use the square cut out and cut a square from where the teeth come together down.
Next you right click inside the square you cut out, and then click on copy.
Then you open another paint program and click "edit," then "paste."
Now you need to bring the size of the blank white area, to where your mouth is.
Save this and go to the whole head.
Now delete the mouth and save this.

Step 3: Animate the Mouth
Now that you've done that last step you need to open pivot stickfigure animator.
I used pivot because I am not any good at gimp and pivot is simpler, so if you want to use gimp that will work fine to.
Load your faceparts as sprites onto pivot and keep pulling it up and down (while taking pictures) to animate.
Then save your animation as a .gif file.
