Conditional Light Switch
For this project, I made a conditional circuit. This means that different lights will light up depending on what buttons you press. With this circuit, pressing the bottom button will only light up the green light, while pressing the top button will only light up the red light. By pressing no buttons, both the yellow and red lights will light up.
In a real-world scenario, how will this help? I don't know, just thought it seemed cool.
Supplies
- Breadboard
- Wire
- Resistor (x1)
- Buttons (x2)
- LED Lights (x3)
- 9v Battery
- 9v Battery Connector
Attach Buttons to Breadboard
Connect two button switches to the bottom of the breadboard. By placing them at the bottom, there will be enough room to build the rest of the circuit. Do not place them too close together as it will not allow enough room to connect LEDs to them.
Connect LEDs to Buttons
Connect LEDs to the Breadboard so that the long ends of the red and green lights align with the bottom of the button. This will allow it so they will turn on when the button is pressed.
Align the long end of the yellow light to align with the top of the lower button, and the short end is in line with the long end of the red light. This will make it so the yellow lights up automatically and turns off when the bottom button is pressed.
Wire Lights to a Resistor
Connect the short ends of the red and green lights by using wires to a resistor. This will prevent too much electricity from going through the LEDs, preventing it from burning out.
Connect Battery to the Circut
Connect a 9v Battery to the Breadboard by using a 9v Battery Connector. Attach the positive side (red wire) to the left side of the board, and the negative side (black wire) to the right side of the board. This will power the circuit.
Connect Positive Charge to Buttons
Connect the top connectors on the buttons to the positive side of the battery by using wires. This will complete the circuit, and if everything is done correctly, both the red and yellow lights should light up, while the green light does not.
By pressing the bottom button, only the green light will light up. By pressing the top button, only the red light will light up.
