Copper Card Holder/wallet

This is my card holder that took me less than half an hour to make and can be made with basic workshop tools, it hold 5+ cards and was a really fun project and extremely useful and I hope you will want to make it as well.

Supplies

Supplies/Tools,

copper plate, or pipe (I bent mine flat out of pipe, I will tell you why later), you can use any sort of metal that bends easily,

stretchy band/elastic,

super glue or any metal to material glue,

angle grinder or a hacksaw,

marker and ruler of some sort to draw straight lines,

hammer/metal bender,

sand paper/file to get any burs off,

buffing wheel, to make the copper plates shiny,

and a card for tracing around,

and I think that is all.

Finding and Marking Copper Plate/pipe

I had some copper pipe and copper plate lying around in my garage, the pipe and plate were the perfect thickness to make the card holder/wallet I had been needing to make, the copper plate would have been a lot faster to get to the finished product, but the copper pipe meant I had to cut through the pipe and then hammer it flat into a plate I could use, the reason I went through the pipe process meant my card holder would have tons of small indents that caught the light, This looked really cool when I had previously bent pipe flat, This process was a win for me and gave my card holder/wallet character, again your choice but I highly recommend the pipe process. To mark and outline and for the plates to be the same width of my cards, I lay down my card on the copper and etched a line around the card and this gave me the perfect width for the front and back plates, you can mark the length as long or short as you want, just make sure you yourself can get the cards out.

Cut to the Width of Your Card or Cards

I made sure to cut to exactly the width of the card so the stretchy band at the side would hold the card really secure and hug to the card so it won't fall out, be sure to cut the plate shorter that the length of the card/s to ensure you can pull the cards out with ease.

Bending the Bottom

Bend the bottom of one of your plates 1cm or 0.4inches in so your cards don't fall out the bottom, to do this just measure 1cm or 0.4inches from the bottom of one of your plates and then hammer this down so you get a nice chamfered edge.

Sand and Buff

After you have sanded any burs off and buffed and polished the plates shiny, you can see these awesome hammer marks that catch the light, when you are buffing the copper just remember that copper is a really good conductor and transfers heat very well so don't burn yourself.

Add on Your Stretchy Bands

I got my stretchy bands off an old headlamp and they work really well and look slick with the copper, just glue the stretchy bands to one copper plate and then the other and boom, you have your very own epic card wallet!!

Enjoy
