Become the heroine of the movie and book, Coraline. This costume design uses thrift store finds and some DIY items to make the perfect outfit for some brave adventuring.

Thanks to my friend Kate for modeling this fun costume.

You will need to purchase a wig unless you have a blue bob already.

Look for a Side-parted bob styled wig in the color blue.

Wardrobe

Coraline has many wardrobe changes throughout the movie. Pick out a wardrobe based on anything you might already have at home. Such as a yellow rain jacket, rain boots or orange pajamas. We went with the rain jacket wardrobe because we had the yellow shoes and the accessories could be easily be found at thrift stores. Another of my favorite wardrobes is the blue sweater with white stars. The outfit itself is simple but you will most likely have to add your own stars. I could not find such a sweater in existence.

Either a yellow rain jacket or a structured yellow coat will work as her outer coat. Yellow rainboots or in this case, yellow Doc Martins will work for shoes.

Coraline's skirt is a red sweater skirt but any dark red skirt will work. Striped stockings were purchased from a costume store.

Make Up

Keep make up very minimal. Apply a foundation that matches your skin tone and lightly dust with pressed powder to set. Either skip the eye shadow and lipstick or use a very natural color scheme. Use brown eyeliner to add "freckles" to your cheeks. Also, you can paint your fingernails light blue.

Accessories

The key accessories you will need are the dragonfly hair clip and red satchel.

You can make your own dragonfly hair clip by going to my instructable here:https://www.instructables.com/id/Coralines-Dragonfl...

The red satchel ended up being a half red bag found at a thrift store and the bottom half had to be spray painted. I masked off the top portion that was already red and then primed and spray painted the unmasked portion red.

Some other accessories that would be related to the story are black buttons, snow globes, a skeleton key, a flashlight or any other of your favorite props from the movie.

Have Fun!
