Here's a really quick and easy bookmark to make, when a regular bookmark feels too boring. You can make them as elegant or quirky as you like, and use them in any book. They are super fun to make, and don't take much time at all.

What You'll Need

-Ruler

-Scissors

-Pen or pencil for measuring

-Card or paper (any colour you would like your bookmark to be)

-Coloured pens, card, paper etc. for decorating

-Glue

Measuring the Bookmark

Lay the paper/card you are using for the body of the bookmark on a flat surface. Measure, using a ruler, 12cm from the corner of the paper, vertically and horizontally, and make marks every 6cm. Then measure across the paper, and mark on 12cm, and a new mark at 6cm. Then connect the marks to make a 12cm x 12cm grid, split into four 6cm x 6cm boxes.

Note: You can make the bookmark whatever size you want, as long as you have 4 squares that are the same size.

Draw Lines and Cut Out

Draw diagonal lines across the top right, and bottom left boxes, and cut out the section showed in the photo. It will look a little bit like a 'fox head' shape. Fold down along the lines so that it will be easier to glue together later.

Decorate and Stick Together

Decorate the bookmark however you wish, making sure that you are decorating the outside 'tab'. Once decorated, apply glue to the top of the bottom 'tab', and then stick down the top 'tab' to it. If there are any small pieces of card/paper hanging off, trim it to make it neater.

And You're All Done!
