Corrugated Metal Awning

This is kind of just a fun metal project that could both look cool and be practical.

Decide your size, and go ahead and cut your pieces. Be sure to grind the rough edges off so you don't cut yourself.

At this point your going to want to position your pieces and tack them in place, I obviously had a few cuts that where out of whack, make sure your pieces are positioned correctly.

I wasn't paying attention when I cut the long side of the triangles. Mistakes where made.
But I went ahead and just welded on the extra length.

Now one of the most important parts, hanging. It's almost guaranteed that someone's going to jump up and hang from the awning, so make sure that you hang it in a way that it can hold the weight of at least 1 or 2 people. I used 4 3/8 x 6" lags (going into a massive 12x12 header on the bottom and 12x studs on top).

Now you can cut your corrugated metal to fit the frame and attach with self tapping screws. Our awning had no need to be water proof because there's another overhang above it, it's just used for decoration. But if it does need to be waterproof be sure to cut the metal tight to the wall, use the appropriate flashing and sealer, and use a self tapping screw with a rubber grommet on it so that it doesn't leak around the screw holes.
