Cozy Knitted Dog Scarf

This Instructable shows how to knit a cozy scarf for your dog! Works great for keeping your dog warm in the winter. This is an easy project and requires no prior knitting experience.

Yarn

Round knitting loom and the tools that come with it

Use bigger yarn and a bigger knitting loom size for bigger dogs or visa versa

Tape (optional)

Begin by tying a small slip-knot on the peg that sticks out from the side. Next start wrapping each peg all the way around. Once all the pegs have been wrapped, wrap one more layer of yarn around the pegs.

To complete the stitch, use the knitting hook and slide it under the bottom loop. With the yarn around the knitting hook, lift the loop of yarn up and over the peg. Leave the loop behind the peg. Do this to all the yarn around the pegs.

Continue the process of wrapping loops around the pegs and pulling the loop up and over the pegs until scarf has reached the desired length. For mine I made it about a foot long.

(After about 5 rows, undo the slip knot and tie it off and cut it.)

To finish the scarf, cut the extra yarn down to about 3 feet. I lost my yarn needle, but if you have one feel free to use it for this step. If you don't have one, use tape to make the end of the yarn smaller and easier to thread.

Weave the end of the extra yarn through each of the loops on the pegs. Once the extra yarn is threaded through the loops, lift the loop off of the peg. Continue doing this until the scarf is separated from the knitting loom.

When all the loops have been threaded through, tie the end of the yarn to the first loop that was threaded and knot it. Cut the end of the string and discard.

You're finished! Now all you need to do is find a dog to slip the scarf around! Let me know if you have any questions.

Try experimenting with different colors by cutting one end and tying a new color to it.
