Cream Cheese Sausage Balls
The holiday season in our kitchen means one thing...sausage balls! I was introduced to these yummy little snacks during my first Christmas celebration with my husband's family, twelve years ago. They have since become a tradition for our family, too!
Only 4 ingredients and 30~ish minutes! Great for breakfast, parties, potlucks, tailgating, or a quick snack. Make in advance & freeze, or enjoy immediately.
Supplies
Kitchen Equipment:
- A stand mixer, with dough hook attachment
- Sheet pans
- 1" cookie scoop, optional
- Box grater, optional (I prefer to grate my own cheese)
- Dry measuring cups
Ingredients:
- 1lb breakfast sausage, uncooked
- 1 (8oz package) cream cheese, softened
- 1 1/4 cup Bisquick
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (pepper jack is good, too)
Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 400ºF.
Mix All Ingredients
Mix all ingredients until well combined. Mixing by hand will work, but I prefer to use my stand mixer with the dough attachment. It makes the process much easier.
Roll Into Balls
Roll the mixture into 1" balls and place on a baking sheet. I like to use a cookie scoop, because it speeds up the process and everything will be the same size.
Bake
Place baking sheets in oven and bake 18-22 minutes, or until brown. Oven temperatures vary, so keep an eye on them.
Special Notes
Yields 5 dozen
Serve warm, room temp, or even cold. But beware, you can't eat just one.
**May be frozen, uncooked. If baking from frozen, add a few minutes to the cooking time.
