Creating the Body
The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.
Let's start by creating the head!
Instructions
- Place a paraboloid on the workplane. This will be the top of the alligator's mouth. Turn the paraboloid on its side, 90 degrees. Scale it down by half.
- Place a box and turn it into a hole. We will use the box to remove the bottom half of the paraboloid. Scale the box so the paraboloid can fit inside, and move it so it covers half of the paraboloid from the bottom.

- Center the together using align and move the pyramid in place.
- Change the color of the objects.
- Place a sphere and scale one side down to about 14mm. This will be the neck of the alligator.
- Rotate the sphere 50 degrees toward the mouth.
- Center the sphere with the mouth using align and move it in place.
- Make a copy of the sphere. This will be the shoulders of the alligator.
- Rotate the shoulders 45 degrees.
- Move the shoulders back as shown in the image.
- Continue to the next step.
Creating the Torso
The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.
Let's continue by creating the Torso!
Instructions
- Place a box and scale the sides in so it is 8mm. Center the box to any of the previous objects.
- Press W to use the workplane tool. Select the right side of the box. Place a half cylinder.
- Repeat Step 2 for the opposite side of the box. Select all three objects and align them together as shown in the image.
- Rotate the objects 90 degrees and connect them to the shoulders.
- Lengthen the body so that it is 35mm long
- Use the workplane tool to place a paraboloid on the back end of the body.
- Rotate the paraboloid -14 degrees. The bottom edge should be parallel with the alligator's belly.
- Continue to the next step.
Creating the Tail
The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.
Let's finish the body with a tail!
Instructions
- Place a pyramid on the workplane. This will be the first part of the tail that connects to the body. Scale the height up to about 60mm and make the width the same as the box used for the spine. Rotate the tail and move it into place.
- Make a new cube and turn it into a hole. Move it so it covers the top half of the pyramid. Group the box and pyramid together. The image shows how much of the pyramid to remove.
- Make a copy of the tail and move it further down.
- Rotate the copy so the bottom side is parallel with the ground. Ungroup it and delete the hole box
- Scale the height down so both parts of the tail are the same height where they connect.
- Continue to the next lesson.
