Crystal Candles
Stress is a major factor in almost everyone's lives, whether it be because of work, school, family, friends, etc. Learning to cope with stress is crucial to living a happy and healthy life. Aromatherapy is commonly used to treat a wide variety of mental and physical problems such as stress and anxiety. The smell of scented candles stimulates the part of your brain which is connected to memory and mood. From boosting energy to relieving stress, the healing properties that come from a lighted scented candle with aromatherapy are amazing for these kinds of obstacles that most people go through. Adding on, crystals are also a great form of meditation, so combining aromatherapy, candles, and crystals, is the perfect combination to a stress-free, positive vibe, and energetic life.
Gather Your Materials
In order to start making the candle, the right ingredients are needed. For this project you will need:
Once you have gathered your materials, make sure you have a clean workspace in order to complete this project as efficiently as possible. Making sure to cover the workspace with a paper towel or a table cloth just in case some of the wax gets into the workspace
Make Wax Mixture
This second step is crucial for making the candle. Depending on the size of the container will mean how much wax you will need. For small to medium containers, you will need 1 1/2 cups of wax. For larger containers, you will need up to 3 cups of wax.
First, you will measure 1 1/2 cups of wax and insert the wax into the stove while on low heat. Once the wax has fully melted and is completely liquid, you will add the fragrance of your choice, in this case, I chose a green tea/gardenia essential oil. Depending on how much fragrance you add, will depend on how much the candle smells. If you want a strong scent, add about 2 tablespoons of fragrance. If you want a lightly scented candle, 1-2 teaspoons of fragrance is ideal.
Fill Container
Once your wax is fully melted, turn the stove off before wax starts to boil. You will need a clear container, wicks, and some chopsticks or long sticks to hold the wick in place. Make sure you dip the wick into the wax and stick it at the bottom of the container so that it stays glued. Now, you are ready to pour.
Slowly pour the wax with a small container, (I used the cup I measured the wax with). Make sure that the wax does not fill up the whole container. Leave about 2 inches between the top of the container and the wax.
Once you have done this hold the wick in place with the chopsticks/sticks and let the wax cool.
Decorate
Before you let the wax cool down 100% solid, make sure you decorate your candle. This step is optional but highly recommended.
Make sure to wait about 1 hour and then start decorating.
For my personal candle, I used different size crystals to assemble my candle.
Adding crystals to candles is perfect for anyone needing a break from stress or anxiety. Burn it at night when you are relaxing or anytime throughout the day when it is needed. Scented with gardenia and jasmine it has a light fresh scent and comes with crystals such as rose and amethyst.
Enjoy!
You have completed your candle!
"It's a candle's flame that helps to soothe our soul – reducing stress and increasing self-awareness. The soft illumination helps us to calm down and even achieve a meditative state. The low light that comes from a candle is captured by your sight and sent straight to your brain for processing."
