2. Various size of hand file
3. woodworking Chisel
4.Orbit Sander
5. Band Saw
6. Sand paer
Material Needed
A piece of 2”x 4” lumber wood
Carving
I used a compass to draw a circle with radius 3” on the lumber wood as reference. I clapped the wood firmly onto the table, so it will be move while carving. I started with carving along the circle for making the edge more define. Then I carved toward the middle from the edge and carved deeper to form a bowl shape. The center of the bowl shape is 1.5” deep. The hollowing process was the most difficult and time consuming. It took me nearly 2 hours.
Sanding and Trimming
I used 80 grit sandpaper to sand out uneven surface from carving marks, then used 200 grit sandpaper to make the surface more smoother.
I used the band saw the cut off the excess wood from both end, making it as square as possible. Then, I finished up with the orbit sander for smoothing all the uneven marks on all surfaces
Waxing
Last step of the process, I applied wax to the bowl for protecting the wood from moisture and making it harder to attain with other product. Also, the coat of wax make bowl looks more shiny.
