Custom Tablet Book Case

This project is a book which is partially hollowed out and glued to make a creative case for a tablet.

You will need: 1 hot glue gun, 2 hot glue sticks, 1 X-ACTO knife, 1 cool book of your choosing, 1 8oz container of Mod Podge glue, 1 paint brush, 1 ruler, 1 tablet ( We decided to use kindle), 1 old kindle casing, and 1 pencil.

Make sure your chosen book can comfortably fit your tablet inside of it.

*** This project will take you an approximated time of 1 hour (not including drying times).

The back portion of the book should contain the majority of the pages (about ¾). Make sure that the back section is at least as thick as the tablet. The front section of the pages should contain the remaining ¼ of the pages.

Glue the back ¾ pages to the back of the book using the 8oz container of mod podge and a paint brush. Only apply glue to the outside rim of the book.

Use the hot glue gun to glue the back ¾ section to the back cover of the book.

Place a weight on the book to allow the pages to dry for one hour before proceeding to step 6.

Place the old tablet casing on top of the dry pages and trace the outline of the case on the page.

Begin recessing the pages using an X-ACTO knife. Do this by cutting along the traced lines using the ruler as a guide(Be careful not to cut yourself) .Continue recessing the pages until you’ve reached the desired depth to accommodate the tablet (along with the case). This will take you at least 5-7 minutes.

Proceed to glue the old tablet casing to the inside of the pocket you’ve just cut out using a hot glue gun.

Once the case has dried, assess the front portion of the pages and decide whether or not you need to rip out any pages in order to make the book close flush.

Glue the remaining front portion of pages (refer to step 3) with Mod Podge.

Once again place a weight on the book to allow the case and the pages to dry for one hour to complete the project. Once it is dry enjoy your new tablet case!
