Customized Keyboard

I made my own customized keyboard by reusing an old one for a project in my Engineering and Critical Thinking class. The project was called "Make It Silly," and it was all about combining creativity and functionality. I had a lot of fun turning a boring, everyday keyboard into something unique and fun. This project helped me practice my skills and made me think outside the box to create something totally different.

Supplies

The materials I used for the project included Sharpie paint markers for detailed designs, painter's tape to create clean lines and protect certain areas, spray paint for a smooth, even base, and regular acrylic white paint for finishing touches and undercoats. Each supply played an important role in bringing the final design to life.

Preparation

First, I brainstormed ideas for the project, trying to come up with something fun and creative. I finally decided to customize an old keyboard. To make sure I didn’t forget where all the keys go, I took a picture of the original layout. Then, I carefully took off all the keys and covered the spaces where they sat with painter’s tape to protect them.

Next, I brought the keyboard outside and set it on a broken-down box to spray-paint the base. Once it dried, I started working on the keys. For the letter keys, I made unique designs for each one based on the letter itself. For the number keys and others, I kept it simple by painting them all a light gray color.

Once everything was painted and dry, I put all the keys back in their original spots. The final result was a cool, fully customized keyboard that was both creative and fun to make.
