Hi, guys! I have spent long hours trying to make up my mind concerning the next Instructable I would like to offer you. Among a rich variety of handmade items I have made for my friends or for home decoration, I have finally found the one, which will definitely be a great surprise for you. This is especially true if you have kids at home. The souvenir I’m talking about is a cute Grass Tiger! It looks unusual and can give any child the unbelievable spectrum of emotions he/she will remember for years to come! By the way, you can make this Grass Tiger with your kid, thus encouraging your son or daughter to be fond of creative handmade items! So, let’s get started!

To make your Grass Tiger, you will need the following supplies:

  • Wood shredding
  • Lawn grass
  • Nylon stockings
  • A needle
  • Brown thread
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paints
  • Googly eyes

Prepare the Stocking for the Toy

Cut a piece of stocking, which should be about 20 cm long. Take a needle and a thread and stitch the edge of the stocking. Then tie up the thread as it shown on the photo, fasten it off and turn inside out.

Fill in the Stocking With Lawn Grass

Take the lawn grass you have prepared and fill in the stocking with it. Note: you should place the grass to those areas, where you would like it to grow. The more lawn grass you will put inside, the more magnificent it will look in the result!

Add Wood Shredding

Fill in the stocking with the wood shredding and stitch the upper part of it to give it a round-shaped look. Tie up the thread well. Cut off the remaining part of the stocking.

Cut the Strips

Take the remaining part of the stocking you have just cut off and prepare the strips to further use them as the strings

Form the Toy

Take the ball you have made using the stocking and define its upper part, which is in the darker place. First, make a nose by separating a part of the wood shredding and tying it up with the strip you have cut in the previous step. Repeat the same actions to make ears, legs, arms and a head. This is what you will get in the result. Looks cute, doesn’t it?

Paint the Toy

Take acrylic paints and color the tiger as you wish. This is how mine looked like! Wait until the paint dries out. This may take several hours. It is better to leave the toy for the night to be sure the paint has dried out well.

Place the Toy Into Water
