Cute Little Clay Bunny

This instructable is not only supposed to be cute and look good, but be fun and easy to make. (even if you are not an artist) I hope you enjoy making a cute bunny.

(side note: my model ended up being around 2 inches tall.)

Supplies

You need:

Clay (sculpey is my preference, but any bake clay will probably work)

A small round ball tool

A small (preferably for clay) knife

Paint (or fancy marker)

Sculpting the Body

Using your hands, make a small lump with the clay then use the ball tool to make buttons then create the v jacket using the same tool.

Sculpting the Head

IMG-5072.JPG

Use the clay to create a ball, then flatten it. Then poke 2 eye holes using the round ball tool and use the knife to make a Y as the nose. The face should look somewhat like this image.

Sculpting the Ears

IMG-5074.JPG

The ears might be the hardest part. You need to make a semi flat oval shaped ear and use the round ball tool to imprint the inside of the ear. Then press it into the head to make sure it will fit in the assembly phase.

Sculpting the Arms and Legs

IMG-5073.JPG

This step may seem easy, but if you make a mistake you will have to redo all of it. Sculpt two smaller arms and two bigger legs. MAKE SURE TO PRESS IT INTO THE BODY TO MAKE SURE IT FITS OR ELSE THIS WILL NOT WORK!

Sculpting the Optional Details

IMG-5077.JPG

These add a little fun and liveliness to your model, but are not needed. Watering can, make a little clay snake and fold the corners to make the handle. make a small rounded cube and use the round ball tool to smooth down the middle, the make a tiny snake and slightly curve it. Then press it into the cup thing. Tiny plant, make a small snake with slightly thicker bottoms. then make a pointed oval draw a line in the middle and make a bunch of Vs on top of it. Make sure it attaches to the stick.

Sculpting the Scenery

IMG-5075.JPG

Make a flattish half circle and use the round ball tool to make a bunch of lines for the grass. This will be a little base for our cute bunny.

Baking

IMG-5080.JPG

Use a bit of tinfoil and place your disassembled model on the tin. (its easier to paint) Read the baking instructions on your clay packet to see how long to bake it for.

Painting

IMG-5088.JPG

I honestly used marker (didn't have paint) and heavily regretted it. First step is painting in a lot of the spaces engraved with clay tools, then going over the other areas with a solid color.

Assembling

IMG-5089.JPG

Use a strong glue and add a little bit to each part that needs attaching. Then attach and make sure that no excess glue is on the outside model.

Enjoyment

Enjoy your model of a cute petter rabbit like bunny.

Thanks for checking out my project!
