Cute Plastic Chopstick Holders
I recently bought some of this moldable plastic compound, called InstaMorph, and was looking for things to make with it. I thought it would be fun to try and make some small figurines that I could use as chopstick holders in my house. The plastic works great since I can wash them in cold water it and then melt it back down if I want to make different ones later.
Buy Some InstaMorph
First get your hands on some InstaMorph. You can buy it off their website (http://www.instamorph.com) or on Amazon.com. This stuff melts at a relatively low temperature and turns into something with the consistency of silly putty and you can mold and attach it to itself. The instructions are on their website.
Building the Figurines
I built up each figurine piece by piece. First conceptualize what you want to make; it’s a lot easier if you know what you’re building first. For this Instructable, I made a bear and a crab. Both of them are a series of small balls and cylinders. To make each part, I took a small amount of InstaMorph and put it in hot water until it’s soft.
Then I rolled it into a ball and attached it to where I thought it should go.
For the last step, I built the hands or claws that would eventually hold the chopsticks in place. After complete, I put the whole figurine in ice water in order to speed up the cooling process.

The Finished Holders
These are the finished peices. Each one took about 5 minutes after a little practice. The next ones I do will probably be some fish for sushi night. I just couldn’t think about how to arrange them to “hold” the chopsticks. If you come up with anything good, let me know.
