Background
- Developed 2 years ago by fellow students, the Chinese Plates Toolkit helps individuals with disabilities learn using specially adapted Chinese plates.
- The original toolkit broke down the learning process into three stages: mastering movement, learning to spin the plates, and performing tricks.
Design Objectives
- Create a product that is strong, durable, and easy to use, eliminating the need for multiple modified Chinese plates.
New Design Features
- Universal Click Ring: Easily attaches to the Chinese plate with a rubber O-ring for a tight fit and solid connection, featuring 3 grooves for the spinning top mechanism.
Updated Learning Process
- Simplified from 3 steps to 2 phases, removing the first step.
- Phase 1 (Formerly Step 2)**: Focuses on learning to juggle with a Chinese plate using the universal click ring, improving visibility and effectiveness.
- Phase 2 (Formerly Step 3)**: The spinning top mechanism glides into the click ring and locks with a twist, allowing users to spin the plate without needing the skill to generate and maintain the spinning motion.

Making of the Universal Clickring
To make the universal click ring, we only have 3 steps: 3D-print the ring, apply the O-ring, and finish off with some paint.
- Step 1: Download the STEP file "klik+ring Correcte v8"
- Step 2: Open your preferred slicer and apply the following slicing parameters:
- Infil type = Gyroid, Infill density =15%
- layer height = 0.20 mm,
- wall thickness = 4
- Top/bottom thickness = 4
- printing temperature = Check the print filament
- Bed temperature = Check the print filament
- Support = Normal 45°
- Step 3: Slice and start printing
- Step 4: After the print is finished, we are going to insert the rubber o-ring in the grove. This may require some force but should be fairly straightforward.
- Step 5: If you look closely there are some arrows and grooves made on the inside of the ring you can paint these in a bright color to emphasize that, that is the place to insert the toll system

Making the Individual Parts of the Spinning Top Mechanism
This system is a bit more complex and requires a bit more assembly.
- Step 1: Print the 3 STEP files called Inside_RcStarter" "Stick_And_RCHolder" and "Click_Plate". Use the same print settings as before.
- Step 2: Remove the supports and test if the click plate fits in the universal click ring. If not sand some of the edges of.
- Step 3: Put the steel rod of 8 mm in the Inside_RcStarter and press fit it in there. Make sure it's straight and not crooked. Use a hammer or a workbench if needed.
- Step 4: Grap the click plate, steel ball, and washer. First, fit in the steel ball in the opening of the click plate, then press fit the washer to the edge (look at the picture) and use superglue if needed.
- Step 5: Now take the freewheel bearing and press fit it in the click plate using a bit of wood or a workbench, be careful to not put it in crooked. Also, make sure when you pull on the RC car starter that the freewheel stops the movement, when you let go of the RC car starter then the freewheel should allow the movement and spin.
- Step 6: Press the 8mm steel rod that is 25 mm long in the Inside_RcStarter 3D print and fit this 3D print into the RC car pull starter, here you can also apply some superglue if needed.
Assembling the Individual Parts of the Toll System
The whole assembly to use the Universal Click Ring system.
- Step 1: Take the universal click ring and ensure that the O-ring is positioned closest to the bottom of the Chinese plate.
- Step 2: Push down on the ring until the O-ring is barely visible, with the rest of the ring covered by the higher edge of the Chinese plate. Ensure that the height is consistent all around the plate.
The whole assembly to use the Spinning top mechanism.
- Step 1: make sure that all the 3 printed parts are cleaned up and ready for assembly
- Step 2: Take some bearing grease and apply it to the freewheel.
- Step 3: Take the universal click ring and ensure that the O-ring is positioned closest to the bottom of the Chinese plate.
- Step 4: Push down on the ring until the O-ring is barely visible, with the rest of the ring covered by the higher edge of the Chinese plate. Ensure that the height is consistent all around the plate.
- Step 5: Pick up the click plate and guide it through the edges of the universal click ring. Slide it to the bottom and twist far enough in the direction of the arrows until you hear a click.
- Step 6: Put the stick in the round RC starter holder.
- Step 7: Put the RC starter with the steel rod in the opening of the click plate.
