DIY Book Safe.

I planed to make a book safe when the Books And Bookshelves contest came out, but I didn't get around to doing it until now. the book I used had about 770 pages, but you can also do it with a dictionary if you want to cut more pages and have more room.

Here are the the supplies that you will need for this project.

1. Book with 700 pages or more.
2. X-Acto knife.
3. Ruler.
4. Pen.
5. School glue.
6. Mod Podge.
7. Paint brush.

We will begin making the book safe by cutting the middle of the pages out. First, open the book 15 or so and use the ruler to draw a rectangle on the page leaving one inch on all sides. Then use the X-Acto knife to cut it out. A good tip is to push down hard on the X-Acto knife so it will cut more pages and, overlap the cut a bit on the corners so the pages will come out easier. One last thing is to make sure to have patience, because it took me about four hours to cut out all those pages.

After cutting the pages, flip the book over and open the cover. Then glue the cover to the very last page in the book.

Now we will Mod Podge the inside of the book. Mod Podge will hold the pages together and will also give it a glossy finish. Let the Mod Podge dry before going to the next step.

To hold the pages together even more we will Mod Podge the outside as well. Before Mod Podgeing the outside, open the book to where you started cutting the pages otherwise, you will not be able to open the book. After you let it dry you are done. Enjoy.
