DIY: Cake Topper
Cake toppers had become very popular in the last months. What I love of using them is that you can ensure that your pictures will capture the message you have in the cake topper such as the age you are turning, a special occasion, a date, etc... so you do not need to go back to your memory to remember when a specific picture was taken.
This time I am showing you how to create your own cake topper with very few materials. You will enjoy writing your own messages and enjoying beautiful celebrations with your beloved ones!
Gather Your Materials
You need:
- A piece of scrapbook paper
- 2 bamboo sticks (I used those for appetizers)
- Permanent marker
- Scissors
- Hot glue gun
Mark Banner
First, you need to mark the banner in the back side of the scrapbook paper
Cut Banner
Cut the banner. Do not worry a lot if you can still see the marks in the back since we will cover that later.
Write Message in the Banner
Write your personalized message on it. Some suggestions are:
- "Happy Birthday!"
- "Happy 1st Anniversary!"
- "Merry XMas 2017"
- "Welcome 2018"
YOU NAME IT!
Glue Bamboo Sticks
It is time to glue bamboo sticks in each side of the banner. Ensure you do this in the back side
Glue Back Banner
We will cut an additional piece of scrapbook paper and glue it with hot glue in the back of the banner with message (remember that the decorated paper should always be in the outer side). Cut it in the same way as the original banner (the one with message)
Adjust Stick High
In case your sticks are very high vs. the cake height, you can cut them with a knife.
Place in Cake
Place the cake topper in your cake and CELEBRATE!
