DIY Cheap Abrasive Wheel

This is economical way to make an abrasive wheel for your rotary tool Dremel Style.

Here Is What I Used

Kitchen Scrubs or Scouring Pads whatever you want to call them.

Pair of Scissors

Threaded Dremel or similar mandrel.

Cutting Out the Scouring Pads

Once you decide what grit and thickness you need start cutting the desired size discs with a pair of sharp scissors. If you have the thinner pads you will need to cut out more discs as the mandrel will take 2 to 3 discs each time .

I have used 3M very fine and heavy duty they seem to be of the same material used on the Dremel accessories. I believe you can get them in various size and grits at your hardware store.

If after cutting the discs you find that they are not perfect circles don't worry just give them a spin on the Dremel on any broad file or sandpaper sheet and you are good to go.

The Finished Product

I would advise you to try out your abrasive wheel on scraps of whatever you plan to use it for to check for finish.

If you find that the disc slips on the threaded mandrel you can use one of the screw down mandrels the one with the tiny fiber washers and a screw .

This is a great way to save some money and if you shop around you will find different brands and densities of scouring pads which you could use.
