DIY Cute Hanging Bird Feeder

DIY Cute Hanging Bird Feeder | Easy Spring Crafts | Garden Decor

Most bird feeders are so boring! I wanted a way to make a bird feeder that’s also super cute for our yard. I came up with the perfect hanging bird feeder. You can customize it any way you want. I chose a flower and a butterfly because I like to have both in my garden. I also chose a unicorn, because um, I really like unicorns! Haha! Make sure to use unsalted peanut butter, so you don’t hurt the beautiful birdies!

Materials

Step 0.jpg

You will need:

  • 3 pre-decorated wood shapes
  • glue gun
  • twine or rope
  • mod podge
  • paint brush
  • unsalted peanut butter
  • bird seeds
  • a kids knife or a butter knife

Protect Your Pieces!

Step 1.jpg

Since the wood shapes are decorated, I wanted to protect them. You can do this by covering the front and back of the shapes with Mod Podge. Use a paintbrush to cover the front, let it fully dry and then cover the back. Make sure both the front ant the back is fully dry before moving onto the next step.

Use Glue to Make It Into a Hangy Thing.

Step 3.jpg

Put the shapes in the order that you want them hanging. Take the twine and fold it in half. Glue the end of the twine (opposite of the looped side) to the bottom wooden shape. Leave a little space in the twine and glue the next piece. Then leave a little room again and glue the top piece onto the string.

Peanut Butter and Bird Seeds

Once you have all the wooden shapes glued on, take your knife and spread peanut butter onto the back of the wooden shape. Then press it into a plate of your bird seeds. Repeat this with each shape until you are done.

Snack Time! (For the Birdies.)

That’s it! Clean up the front if needed and hang it outside for the birds to snack on!

Isn't it so cute?
