DIY Fireworks Salt Painting

Step 6.jpg
DIY Fireworks Salt Painting | Painting Fireworks with Salt & Watercolors | Fourth of July Crafts

Fireworks are so awesome! I love going to watch them every year. I wanted to make something I can hang in my room to remind me of the pretty fireworks I see. This is a very easy craft to make this Fourth of July. All you need are some water colors, glue, and salt. Make one each year and recreate your favorite ones. This would also be a great project for New Years as well! Hope you guys have a great weekend!

Gather Your Materials...

Step 0.jpg

You will need:

  • canvas
  • glue
  • salt
  • paintbrushes
  • watercolors
  • black paint

All Black.

Step 1.jpg

First paint the entire canvas black. I used a metallic black paint to make the sky shimmery. Let it fully dry.

Fireworks Made Out of Glue.

Step 2.jpg

Use some glue and draw fireworks all over. Try to recreate your most favorite fireworks that you've seen. Use super thin lines and small dots. The glue spreads out a lot.

Pour on the Salt.

Step 3.jpg
Step 4.jpg

Quickly pour salt all over the glue. Shake it back and forth a little bit and pour the remaining salt out. (You can save the salt for another project, but don't eat it!) Let the glue dry.

Time to Make It Colorful!

Step 5.jpg

Once the glue is fully dry. Take a paintbrush and dip it into your water colors. Make sure it's very watery so the colors can spread out. Then touch it lightly to the salt. Watch as the colors spread out. It looks super cool. Don't press the paintbrush into the salt, since it gets very fragile when wet. Try doing rainbows, and different patterns, mixing colors, and anything you can imagine to make it awesome!

Done!

That's it! Let it dry and you can hang it up on your wall.
