Elegant DIY Fringe Chandelier Tutorial

In Alyssa’s world, there is no such thing as too much colour! Every corner of Alyssa’s home is full of pastel inspiration, colour and personality. She doesn’t just promote her love of pastel, she lives it.

Alyssa is looking for a new hanging chandelier to replace the bland ceiling lamp she currently has in her office. An office should be a place for inspiration and promote productivity - so I need to DIY a piece that not only looks amazing but provides proper lighting as well. Alyssa loves the fringe look, so I want to make her a fun DIY fringe chandelier complete with gold edge banding to match her decor style...and of course pink fringe to really give the lamp the glamorous wow factor we need.

To really make this fringe chandelier come together, I’m going to finish my look with a decorative ceiling moulding that will help give the lamp a beautiful vintage look.

Not only is this chandelier going to look amazing, it’s going to draw the eye and make a great conversation piece in her space.

What a DE-LIGHT-FUL thought!

First up, source a lamp shade to act as your base. I gravitated towards using a retro light style, however you can use anything that has some kind of lip on it.

Poking Around

Step 2.jpg
Step 1.jpg

Using awl and hammer, poke 4 holes equal spaced around inside rim of lampshade

Flatten the Rim

Step 11.jpg

Using tin snips, cut the rim every 4 inches and use pliers to flatten rim... this will give you a flat surface to glue to later. If your lamp already has a flat rim, then move along to step 4!

Paint It
